Mrs. Delores Humphries is the Oakdale Christian Academy & Child Care Principal.

Mrs. Humphries served as a Chicago Public Schools educator for more than 25 years. After graduating from Chicago Teacher’s College (now Chicago State University, Mrs. Humphries served on the teaching staffs of Chappell Elementary, Mayo Elementary, Pershing Magnet, and Dixon Elementary. She obtained a Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction from National-Louis University and earned her Administrative Degree (Type 75) from Concordia University. During her teaching career, she taught all disciplines, but specialized in mathematics education for upper grades in the last several years.

Mrs. Humphries has been a dedicated member of Oakdale Covenant Church for many years, where she has served in many capacities, including Children’s Division Director. In 2002, Pastor D. Darrell Griffin and the School Board invited her to become the principal of OCA following the retirement of Mrs. Bobby McGee. Although her heart was truly for the classroom, Mrs. Humphries welcomed the challenge of guiding a learning environment and educational philosophy for an entire school.

In addition to serving as Oakdale’s principal, Mrs. Humphries is also a dedicated member of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics; the Illinois Reading Council, and is a member of the Benjamin Banneker Association, a national non-profit dedicated to improving mathematics education and achievement for African-American students
